This is a story I enjoyed reading back to back with "The Song of Shub-Niggurath". In our continuing attempt to fill out the various niches of fantasy and horror, it's good to see that we have at least one tale of not only horror but adventure.

Some of Lovecraft's yarns are indeed tales of high adventure.
Do read, "Black Man With A Horn", by T.E.D. Klein-you'll never look at a Zatarain's box quite the same again!
If I could write one that good, I'd die a happy man.

Very good. Bravo.

I like the characterization. The plot was creepy. The arcane knowledge looked well researched.

:)

Thank'ee kindly!
But tell me what you didn't like or understand, because that will help me write a better story.
Some trolls came here, and accused us of being a mutual admiration society-well, the writers here are pretty good-but a dash of honest and critical analysis is also good for a writer.

Horror has to be entertaining, there isn't any other standard to judge it by, 'Moby Dick' is a monster story, about as much fun as a root canal, therefore, I think it stinks!
It sold poorly, too.
I've studied the strange and arcane for fifty years, now, I want to enjoy the small treasures I've found.
And share them.
In any case, thankee 'kindly!
