Good story. It seemed a little rushed though and could have developed into a bigger story. Lots of things were left unanswered for me. Who was the stranger? Why did he have the connection to the kid. Where did his expierence of Elder symbols come from? I also would have liked to see their relationship devlop more. The guy just shows up, they sleep, and go fight a monster. A little more empathy could have been created. So overall I guess it left me wanting more, so good job.

Chris,
Good points all, thanks very much. All I can offer as an explanation as to some of the leaps in logic are that the character of Levi is a "serial" character if you will, and in a perfect situation each Levi story is meant to be read as part of an overall series. So that is one reason why the premise seems so out-of-left-field. Rather than attempt to introduce the reader to Levi in every story, I have historically written them on the assumption that if you want to know more then you will go and read the previous ones. (As yet only one has been published elsewhere on the net [Crimson Highway, November 2006]) Some would say it's not a good approach to take, but ultimately I would like to see a single volume of collected Levi stories, or perhaps in a graphic novel format.

Thanks for the comment!
D.A. Ward

David, I'll look up that other Levi story, and I hope you'll consider submitting another one to FH.

Hodgson,

Great. Actually the one in Crimson Highway was the first one about Levi that I wrote and then decided I liked the character and wanted to keep writing him. So I have had to go back and explain his origins in another story that... now that you mention it... does come in under FH's word limit so let me dust that off and run through it a few times and I'll get it sent over for you to have a look.
