This one sure had good flavor. The southern drawl of the narrator adds a lot to the appeal. I've read some stuff where the accents take a way from the story. Its not a lot of fun having to re-read through a sentence, trying to decipher what the character is saying because the author is being clever. So well done. While I caught on rather quickly to the guys eating habits, it still left me with that certain "Last House on the Left" queasiness, without the gore. The father in the basement seemed to draw a lot from Psycho, but was a nice touch. So in all, another fine story.

Thanks for the compliments. This is an old mss of mine that I went back and solidified.

The goal was to present a "funny/serious" bit somewhat on the order of "Creepshow", or the old "Eerie" mag - - something that has humor and still gets you at the end. Working horror and humor together is fun, but it's also dangerous if we get it wrong.
