I liked this the first time I read it, and I like it as much or more now.
As I mentioned to J.J. previously, the old west seems so near sometimes that it seems we could tear the filmy gauze of time, step through the rent, and emerge back in those weird old days of our country's history. This piece transported me there.

now check out the addition of kyle burles's 'gunslinger' illustration! i think it complements the poem very well.

Very impressive, JJ! The art-work was also very good--very creepy! I really like the "Gunslinger" theme. I wonder if this "Gunslinger" has a "Dark Tower" of his own. No pun intended. (okay, maybe a little pun, but no assumption.) Excellent work, man!
